Asset Recovery
Asset recovery is the process of recovering and returning unclaimed property that has been lost or abandoned to the rightful owner.
Property owners forever have full rights to their property. These rights are never relinquished. This means you may potentially have unclaimed funds sitting in a government agency’s possession.
In many cases, once enough time has lapsed and a claim has not been made by you or on your behalf the unclaimed property is then turned over to the State.
Examples of recoverable assets include:
- Mortgage Foreclosure Overages
- Uncashed Money Orders
- Cashiers & Traveler Checks
- Uncashed Payroll Checks
- Uncashed Mutual Fund Dividends
- Unclaimed Security Deposits
- Probate Court Judgments
- Uncashed Death Benefit Checks
- Life Insurance Proceeds
- Health & Accident Insurance Payments
- HUD-FHA Refunds
There are many places that your assets could be parked waiting for you to claim them. The key is to find the asset and prove to the state government that;
1) it belongs to you
2) that you are who you say you are.
This can be more difficult than you might think, and it requires an attention to detail that many people do not have the patience to commit to. The government does not like returning these assets! They can otherwise use it for what they wish, and in some cases keep any interest on it.
We believe in uniting these unclaimed properties with their rightful owners and are here to help you recover these funds!

Surplus Funds
A large part of our practice is the recovery of money left over after a sheriff’s auction of a foreclosed property. Many people are surprised to learn that if after such a sale that there is sometimes money left over after the bank is paid off. That money is the property of the homeowner.
This can sometimes amount to tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars. The challenge is finding it and getting it back from the State.
This is something that we are here to help you with. There are very particular rules that must be followed in order to convince the State that you are who you say you are, and that you owned the property.
